UnConference
What is an unConference?

An unConference is a flexible, participant-driven answer to a traditional conference. It favors discussion, debate and interaction over talking head presentations

We kick things off with a topic and the attendees take it from there, building the unConference's agenda based around their needs and interests. Instead of a pre-determined slate of speakers, every unConference attendee is invited to lead a session.

This year we're asking attendees to build their sessions around the theme of

STORYTELLING

This year we have a special Storytelling opening by NPR's The Moth and IMPROV sessions by the Upright Citizens Brigade.

Are you a marketer who has successfully built a story around your brand? A creative making a short film? A writer or performer who has some insight into how to create a good story? Or someone with a good story that others can learn from? The possibilities are endless, and it’s up to you to come up with the idea.

How does the unConference work?

It's simple. We offer 300 top people in advertising, new media and technology a discussion topic and then we get out of the way.
At the initiation of the unConference, a facilitator helps the participants build the conference agenda around the central topic. Session leaders are asked to briefly explain their topic in front of the group and then pick a time slot and room to present it.

Any attendee can lead a session.

Conference sessions grow directly from the expertise and passions of those participating. The lack of a preset agenda enables attendees to shape a conference to fit their needs and interests and engage in up-to-the-minute ideas.

If you're eager for an opportunity to speak with a diverse group of leaders from traditional and interactive agencies, clients from a broad range of industries, and internet media properties, then the Creative unConference is for you.

What will be available onsite?

Session spaces vary greatly in size and set up. There are spaces appropriate for smaller more intimate gatherings and large spaces suitable for a hundred people. Some spaces have chairs; some are open.

All spaces will be outfitted with flip charts. At least four spaces will have projectors for presentations. Space assignments will be made when the agenda is posted, based on the needs to the presenter.

What should I bring?

Come armed with laptops, presentations, storyboards, gadgets, questions, opinions, enthusiasm and business cards—anything that will help you to interact, share and inspire!

Who is it for?

Creatives and Art Directors, Writers, Digital Artists, Producers, Designers, and anyone who is passionate about and working in advertising, design and new media.

The One Show Creative unConference is a forum to talk to your peers, learn new things, and build new collaborative networks that will send you out into this shifting landscape energized and ready to lead.
